Ben Hobbs has been making a splash this year with his first couple of outings 'Sweet Enough' and 'Wishful Thinking'. These attention-grabbing statements of intent put the South Londoner on the map, and now he has unveiled a third slice of moody, RnB-infused pop from his debut EP in the shape of 'Cold Sweat'. Hobbs' impassioned vocal pines above the eerie, almost Tears For Fears-esque production-work in this tender, gently seductive cut. "It’s a song about realisation, about a moment when you can admit to yourself that something has been ruling you," he explains of the track. "You can see all your strengths and finally start using them." With an EP launch show at London's Servant Jazz Quarters on 11 May and a smattering of high profile support behind him, Ben Hobbs is nicely set to join the growing ranks of impressive UK singer-songwriters appearing in 2016. -G.O'B
